Sean Smyth established Sean Smyth Construction Ltd in 1999 and is a company director along with Theresa Smyth. He has steadily grown his business from a modest plant hire business to a medium to large Civil Engineering and Main Contracting Business which completes high profile projects such as Beaumont Hospital Psychiatric Unit, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda along with Department of Education Schools, Lidl Projects to mention but a few. Sean is very experienced in all aspects of civil engineering and main contracting works both in Ireland and UK. He began his career as a Machine operative and very quickly progressed to supervisor, foreman, and contracts manager for some of the largest Civil Engineering firms in the UK.
Sean takes huge pride in ensuring that each project is run strictly in accordance with the agreed programme, to the highest standards and on budget. He also holds the roll of Contracts Manager and visits each project on a constant basis ensuring adequate manpower and plant power. Through a well-established record of achieving deadlines, meeting budgets and his high standard of workmanship, ninety percent of SSCL projects are repeat business from some of the largest main contractors in Ireland.
Noel Carr has 22 years’ experience in the field of Civil Engineering and Topographical Surveying. Prior to joining Sean Smyth Construction Ltd, Noel worked for various civil engineering contractors and Topographical Surveying consultants in Ireland, America and Australia. Most recently Noel was a director of an Architectural and Engineering Consultancy firm for ten years which provided Topographical surveying and Architectural services on a diverse range of projects to a vast array of clients. These included Civil, Industrial, Commercial, Educational and Residential type projects. Noel is a Civil Engineering graduate of University College Dublin and a Chartered Civil Engineer.
Tommy began his career with SSCL in 1999 as a track machine operative and has progressed through the ranks of the company and is now our main Foreman. He has been with the company since its formation and is an integral member of the organization. Tommy is very experienced in all aspects of site management and his qualifications include all safe pass and machine operative tickets. Tommy has previous experience with Geraty Construction, and was also a welding and fabrication operative for 6 years with Dromone Engineering. As our main site foreman he takes responsibility for the daily management of the sites and ensuring that each project is completed to the highest standard and in accordance with the programme. He is dedicated to achieving project programmes and has in many cases completed projects earlier that the agreed programme completion dates. Tommy is very proactive and demands nothing but the highest level of workmanship form his site operatives and with his very hands on approach is in keeping with the ‘personal touch’ Sean Smyth Construction Ltd prides itself in.
Theresa, Olivia & Edel at our registered office take care of the administrative side of the company. Olivia is a qualified Accounting Technician with several years experience in this area, and is also responsible for HR and Safety Accreditation aspects. Edel brings both accounting and insurance experience to the company. She also manages, and is qualified in, our Waste Collection Permit which we were awarded recently. Theresa, as an active Managing Director, takes care of payments received, monitors Retentions and assists in all other aspects of the business.
Patrick Flynn has 2 years’ experience in the field of Civil Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering. Patrick qualified from Limerick Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Engineering in Civil Engineering and a Bachelors of Science (Honours) in Civil Engineering Management and is now working towards becoming a charted engineer. Since then he worked as a Geotechnical/Site Engineer for IGSL, an Irish based ground investigation and geotechnical specialists, on a wide range of projects all over Ireland and Northern Ireland including Barnastooka Windfarm, Kerry and Gas to the West, Northern Ireland to name a few. He has recently joined the SSCL and is looking forward to becoming a key member of the team.
